For the next several issues of the CEO Blog I will ask members of the Luso-American Life Insurance Society staff, in both Dublin and Lexington, to write a brief description about themselves. This will allow our members to learn more about the people in our offices who work for them and our Society. From time to time the CEO Blog may deviate from those descriptions in order to cover other matters.

For this edition of the CEO Blog I will give our members some information on my background, both personal and with our Society. I was born in San Jose, California and grew up on a dairy farm. All of my education took place in San Jose, including San Jose State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, with a Concentration in Office Administration. I now live in Pacific Grove, California with my wife Margaret. Our daughter Jenny, son-in-law Tim, granddaughter Erin, and grandson Jack live in San Diego. Our son John has just completed his sophomore year at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles.

Growing up in San Jose I became a member of the Benevolent Society at the age of one and later as an active member of Youth Council #2, followed by 20-30’s Region #1 and Council 47B. Currently I am a member of Council 21B of Los Banos. My involvement with our Society includes serving on the Laws & Rituals Committee, Advisory Board, and two terms on the Board of Directors of the Luso-American Fraternal Federation.

My employment with United National Life Insurance Society, now Luso-American Life Insurance Society, began in 1992 as a Regional Field Manager, followed by Director of Sales and Marketing in 1998, and Vice-President/Secretary from 1999 through December 2008. My appointment as Executive Vice-President/CEO became effective in January 2009. I look forward to continuing to serve Luso-American Life Insurance Society, its divisions, and its members.

If you have any questions regarding our Society, your policy, or our products please give me a call or contact our offices in Dublin, California, or Lexington, Massachusetts. Thank you for your interest, membership, and involvement in your Society.

J. Larry Soares
Executive Vice-President/CEO

  1. Life is so uncertain that nobody knows what is going to happen the next moment. In such a situation, having a life insurance can prove to be a boon in case of an unexpected calamity. Before you choose a particular policy, it is necessary to find a reliable website that provides life insurance quotes from a number of providers. Such a site is very useful because you do not need to visit the websites of the various insurance policy providers and you can get different quotes on the same portal. It becomes easy to compare their rates and other terms in order to choose the most suitable one.
